Park
City's Amazing History Digs Deep Into The Past. Park City was settled
by miners looking to strike silver in the 1870s. The town has played a
colorful role in Utah's history ever since. This history is preserved in
the more than 65 town buildings on the National Historic Register. This
heritage is apparent anytime you wander down Main Street - they don't call
it "Historic Main Street" for nothing. You'll find the Park City Museum,
where you can examine some of the city's artifacts or lock yourself up
in the old jail.
Park
City's Colorful Cultural Collage. Not only is Park City the home of
the world-famous film festival every January, but it is also the place
for world-renowned artists and visual impressionists who find the town's
atmosphere and environment inspiring and inviting. There are art galleries
throughout Park City - showcasing painters, photographers, sculptors and
their varied works. Park City also features five theater in a historic
setting and a year-round film series for stage and screen buffs.
So,
How Great Is The Greatest Snow? When we say "The Greatest Snow On Earth
TM" it is with considerable scientific justification. Utah's unique mountain
terrain, coupled with the state's high desert climate, makes for an unusually
fight, fluffy, dry powder - and an abundance of more than 350 inches on
average each year. Also, our weather is conducive to skiing in comfort.
Locals enjoy an average of 226 clear or partly sunny days each year, including
more than 90 during the winter skiing months. And our daytime temperatures
are pleasantly mild - our average daily high is a balmy 43 degrees during
the ski season. The Wasatch Range is known for its "dry cold," with mild
temperatures that sometimes makes it feel as though you're skiing in the
spring, even if it's the middle of January. If you really want spring conditions,
this is your place, since it's quite common to have mid-season snow conditions
well into April. And speaking of early season openings, we make snow when
Mother Nature is a bit tardy. We're experts in state-of-the-art snow making
technology. In other words, you just get here, we'll come up (or down)
with the snow you're hoping for.
